SEX EDUCATION
The aim of sex education is to help people gain a better understanding of their sexual needs, and figure out how to meet these needs is acceptable ways. Then, it enables people to be aware of the full range of possible sexual behavior and values so that they can meaningfully choose how they themselves will behave. It fosters not only a person’s ability to have insight into his own sexual feelings and needs, but also insight into the sexual feelings and needs of other people.
The aim of sex education is also to teach the young people, to an appropriate level, facts about human biology, intercourse, contraception, birth control, venereal disease, etc. It also teaches about the sexual customs or conventions of one’s own society, and of other societies.
Finally the purpose of sex education is to teach people how to communicate about their sexual feelings and needs, and to form their own moral principles with regard to their own sex lives. Sex education helps boys and girls to understand the part of sex playing in life, and to recognize its physical, spiritual and moral aspects.
Sex education should include reliable knowledge of human reproduction and of the physicals and emotional developments in each sex. It should also prepare both boys and girls for marriage, family and home making. And it should help young people with their own present personal problem.
Positive and realistic guidance to boys and girls in sexual behavior is essential, and such guidance should include biological moral, social and personal aspects.
Sex education schemes in schools should be paralleled by advisory programs for parents on the physical and emotional problems of their children. The schools should combine with the parents to carry out it.
Moral education should have a role in helping boys and girls to find a form base for sexual morality, based on chastity before marriage, and fidelity within it.
Teachers should take into consideration the ethical aspects of sex education. At the same time, all questions regarding sex education should be answered truthfully.
